To qualify for the Uruguay Retiree program, you first become a
permanent resident. Once you are a permanent resident and the holder
of the bond, your attorney in Uruguay will apply on your behalf a Uruguay passport. Panda Global will assist you throughout
this process by assisting with documents, arranging travel, and
by retaining a well established and respected lawyer for you in
Uruguay.
Becoming a Permanent Resident
To become a permanent resident of Uruguay, you must of course visit the country. But before traveling there, you will need the following:
· A clear copy of your Passport (with every page scanned);
· Your Birth Certificate;
· If you are married, a copy of your marriage certificate;
· Two ID type photographs of yourself;
· A certificate from the Police Department of your country of prior residence, establishing no criminal record, translated and certified by an Uruguay consulate. PANDA will assist during this process;
· Documentation proving that the person has a monthly income from
sources other than wages or salary of
$ 1,500 per month.
· Entry Visa to Uruguay, which may be a tourist or business visa. will arrange this for you.
Your Visit to Uruguay
You will visit Uruguay shortly after we begin the process. During your visit, which should take from two to three weeks, you will do the following:
· Bring your passport and another copy of it to the Department of Immigration. The Department of Immigration will not keep your original passport, but they will compare it to the copy, and keep the copy;
· Attend an interview with the Department of Immigration. This interview will take approximately one hour, and your attorney will be with you to help in the process;
· For any documentation that is not translated into Spanish and properly certified , complete the translation and certification process;
· Locate and arrange for a residential address in Uruguay; and
· Obtain a Health Certificate from the Ministry of Public Health.
Your visit to Uruguay will take between two to three weeks in order
to complete all the required steps with the Uruguay Immigration
department. Panda and your attorney in Uruguay will handle everything
from that point forward. Once all the documents are submitted to
the necessary departments, you will be issued your
permanent residence and Uruguay passport within six to seven months.
